VU+ Solo PSU Failure - RED LIGHT Fix

As you can see below on the image attached, after a VU+ Solo stayed stuck with a Red Led ON, and not accepting any Flashing via the USB Stick... the issue found was to replace the 10 capacitors on the PSU and the 2 capacitors on the Motherboard.

The 10 capacitors on the PSU

- C13 : 1500uF 10V 105°
- C24 : 47uF 50V 105°
- C18 : 680uF 25V 105°
- C14 : 1500uF 10V 105°
- C6 : 47uF 50V 105°
- C10 : 470uF 16V 105°
- C11 : 470uF 16V 105°
- C23 : 47uF 50V 105°
- C21 47uF 50V 105°
- C7 : possible failure, better to replace 68uF 450V 105°

so 4 x 47uF 50V 105°, 2 x 470uF 16V 105°, 2 x 1500uF 10V 105°, 1 x 680uF 25V 105°, 1 x 68uF 450V 105°

and the 2 capacitors on the Motherboard

- C538 : 220uF 16V 105°
- C545 : 220uF 16V 105°

so 2 x 220uF 16V 105°

Hope this helps, this fixed the box and PSU, that is like new now. See photo attached for more informations.

Have fun ;o)

So, it needed a complete caps restoration which says enough about the quality of the caps.
But nice to read that you were able to fix the psu, well done.

And if someone has a issue with the Vu+ Solo Psu, but the damage is not repairable then there is a alternative solution with a 12vDc power supply and two Dc to Dc converters which can be read here...
vu-solo-alternative-power-supply-solution and the amps consumption test here.
