Hi there!

Recently, I've purchased a genuine DM520. The problem with it is that it randomly crashes (black screen, blue LED stays on, cannot reach it on network). The only thing I can do is to use the back switch, OFF and ON. It can be frustrating at times. Sometimes the box in up for 12 hours, sometimes only for a few minutes and everything starts over.

What I have tried so far:
* Flashed all the images available
* Flashed the latest rescue loader
* Replaced HDMI cable and changed the HDMI port on TV

Has anybody got a clue what's wrong with the box? BTW, I checked the motherboard and it's V4 and instead of a SIM card, I've got a security chip.

Any help would be appreciated.

This happens with DVB-S2/T/C or IPTV/Streaming ? And Did you tried the latest OpenATV 6.0 ?

It's a satellite one. No matter if I watch channels or stream videos from NAS drive, it freezes.

Yes, I've tried OpenATV 6.0, the latest nightly build image.

I guess I have to mention that whenever I flash an image, in the log window I get: Could not read CA. Try upgrading rescue loader to the newest one. I tried upgrading it with "update-rescue -v", downloaded the latest rescue bin from dreamboxupdate and flashed it, still "could not read CA".

Is it possible that the security chip is broken or not soldered properly to the board?

If you have the Video/Image, then the chip is properly communicating with the box/hardware. So my answer would be no.

This happens also with the clone-hardware/cloneimage/sim2.30orJaphar. Probably some bugs in the main software (SSL/Bootloader).

In my opinion, and based on the issues, it seems to me a cpu issue or at least some issue with a voltage circuit.

Better is, (if you still have the backup from it) is to test the box with the stock fta image file.
When it still give these issues and if you have guarantee on it then it seems to me that it's better to make contact to your seller.

Thanks, Johnny! You must be right. Since the original firmware did not work, I guess I'll send the box back due to its hardware issue.

My DM520 is doing this now. It was doing it before but very rarely. Now it is doing it more frequently. Do you know how to solve it technically?

Did you tried with a new PSU ? As it could be due to power problem, and first idea is about the PSU that often fail (becomes weaker) after some months/years of use. If you have anything connected to the USB Ports and smartcard inserted, try to remove all as well.

I tried a new 12V 5amps switching PSU. I have got a USB Dongle which I cannot unplug as it serves as a streaming buffer. It does it all the same. First the picture freezes. Box is unpingable. After a while front LED turns red and the frozen picture turns to black on TV. I am searching for the latest drivers. Maybe those will help. Checked out with some local DM520 friends and this seems to be a common issue. Only that most of them had sent their boxes back to Germany before warranty expired. Hope I can get to grips on this. Any help would be appreciated.

You should then ask here, to be sure it's not a hardware issue, the USB dongle could be still one bit of the problem, using without could show if it has to do something or not with the issue.

Try with our latest OpenPLi image... perhaps this problem is linked to the software/image you use.
