find / -user 1001 -exec chown root:root {} \;
reboot to allow ftp to start properly

How do you connect with which tool ? SSH/PUTTY ? If yes, this is normal you NEED to connect via Telnet protocol when there is no password. Then set the password and you will then be able to go via SSH.
