will the DM900 DVB-S2X tuner work in DM8000?
can I get UHD channels?

UHD Channels are using H265/HEVC, that is managed by the chipset of the box (motherboard).
The DM8000HD is managing MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4/H264, but NOT HEVC/H265.
So in a DM8000HD you will be able to see channels up to H264.
Concerning the Tuner, it's highly possible that the chipset on it is not supported on older DM drivers (Mostly Broadcom). On latest versions of drivers some ST chipset were supported. See the /lib/modules/...../extra folder.

Be careful, if you have a problem with the Tuner of the DM8000HD first do these things : - Install Toysoft's DE-OpenBlackHole 1.4 image. If you see the tuners and can use them, then the hardware is OK - If you don't see the tuners with Toysoft's image, then you will have to check the PSU as it seems some power doesn't go to the tuner (the most common problem, check the hardware and with johnny at http://jb8a8f8.com). - If Tuner is ok, then you can install the new OE2.x images, like the OpenPLi 4.0 IPTV from MastaG and the new Japhar OpenPLi 6*, but remember as we use the older drivers you will have to boot few times (with off/on button on the back), until you see the Bootlogo of OpenPLi (flower), if you don't see it the tuners will not be activated... until you boot and see the flower. ONLY a successful boot with the Flowers will have all working (Tuners). Admin
