What is Japhar Sim ? Is it for turning my dreambox into a mobile phone or whatever ?

Your Dreambox has a sim card inside, that does the job to get the software working in the box.

There is different sims that were used on Original boxes (A2P, A4P, A8P, then a chip, etc). On the Clones, each team built his own sim, there were Sim 1.0 at start that became the Ferrari then the Sim 2.00 appeared with Sim2 guys (that previously copied the Sim 1.0) and Sim 2.01/2.10/2.20, and the estar Sims 1.0 and 3.0... then the Japhar Sim.

The Japhar sim is built to still have support on our old boxes, DM600pvr, DM800HDpvr, DM800HDse v1, DM800HDse V2, DM8000HD, DM500HD, DM520HD, DM525HD, DM900UHD.

As all other team died, then if you want to have good recent software you have only one solution, swap your old sim to the Japhar Sim.

I have a genuine DM525HD. I still can find images for it. But who knows for how long...

For now keep it as it is, yes, once it will be considered as Dead by the Dreambox support... it will be possible to upgrade it to Japhar (remove the chip and put a sim socket + Japhar Sim).

For now our image are also compiled for the Original box, try it in your box.

Is there a Japhar sim for DM7020HD ? I have a genuine DM7020HD v1 but it has no support anymore. If there is a sim card, could I then use the latest original open pli image ? Thanks!
