I have installed the latest OpenPLi 8.0Star 20210219 GSt 1.18.3 (v6) image but am having severe problems causing the receiver to be almost unusable.
If I install image and satellite list then no problems the receiver works well.
If I try to install enigma2-plugin-extensions-vpnmanager_1.1.6_all.ipk, or any version prior, then it will not install.
If I install NordVPN Connector, when in setup, I get as far as loading the config files and the receiver has the 'green screen of death' then reboots. Upon rebooting I go into the menue and get the message that some plugins are not available (NordVPN Connector) while being unable to to connect to the receiver using DCC v2.40 so I am not able to grab a log file.
Both NordVPN Connector and VPN Manager would install quite happily on the previous v7 image.
Has the v8 image become incompatible with the 2 mentioned plugins?

Have gone back to v7 image for now.

EDIT - Have re installed, the same thing happened but I have managed to get a logfile.

Please use the OpenVPN that is built-in in our new OpenPLi 8.0star image, with Japhar images you would not need to install extra software for VPN, just configure the built-in one.

The upgrade to OpenPLi 8.0x is upgrading various important packages in the box, like GLibc to 2.30 (for new generation of Plugins/IPTV/etc) instead of the 2.19(DM800HDpvr)/2.25(OpenPLi 7.2star)/2.26(of our last OpenPLi 7.3star), and many other packages. Old plugins would most probably fail due to these new upgrades.

I have now re-installed again but could you tell me the command to install openvpn please? I have tried 'opkg install openvpn' but it doesn't work.

opkg update and then read the topic about how to install openvpn,

I have now installed openvpn using 'opkg update && opkg install 0penvpn' according to the telnet readout but it is not showing under /etc and not showing in the plugins menu after a reboot so I am unable to go any further at the moment. Will have play again tomorrow.

Check if you have in the /usr/bin folder the openvpn bin file, if it was successfully installed, there should be the file there,

I have been at this all day now with no success, I have followed your instructions given in post #22978 and no folder in /usr/bin or anywhere else.
Installing enigma2-plugin-extensions-vpnmanager_1.1.6_all.ipk will give me the openvpn folder but vpnmanager is not available in plugins, this version of vpnmanager is compatible with openpli 8.
Installing NordVPN Connector will give me the openvpn folder but will not download configs and if I place them in the required folder myself the receiver crashes. Seems I will have to stick with the v7 image to run my vpn.

and then install openvpn (below on DM900UHD it's preinstalled),

root@dm900:~# opkg install openvpn
No packages installed or removed.

root@dm900:/# cd /usr/sbin
root@dm900:/usr/sbin# ls openvpn
openvpn
root@dm900:/usr/sbin# ls openvpn -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 646220 Feb 17 19:46 openvpn

So it should be already installed or you will have to install it as explained above.
