Hi All,

Newbie, intro part: I use to be quite into the scene of Dreambox flashing back a few years ago when I lived in Spain and the need was there to tinker with these boxes and get them working, however I am now living in the UK and I have not had the need to change the image on the box until the other day when I thought it would be nice to update my Dreambox DM800HD.

I thought that the most recent image available was the OpenPLI but knew this had been discontinued a while ago, then I came across the Japhar forum topics and started reading, a lot, as I dindt even know there was a Sim card etc...

I have 3 x Original DM800 HD boxes (SSL84). I really like the DM800 and was disappointed when development stopped on them as I paid around €400/box back in the day frown.

Question: I was wondering, (apologies if this has been asked before, but I cant find it) is there a Japhar image I can try on my existing hardware BEFORE I buy the new Japhar sim.
I have read on: http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7625#Post7625 - "you can still use this image version (with your DM800HD Original with Original sim) built with 1.6.2 GStreamer." but this is what I downloaded and bricked my box with, im now waiting for a Null Modem cable to fix it, so thought I would ask in the meantime.

Is this line correct? Can I try this version on my existing hardware to see if I like it before buying the Japhar sim?

Many thanks for your developments, im glad I have found this for my DM800HD's.

Flash this one, as various were released back then (for different sims),

Original : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3679#Post3679

This one should work on yours, but it's 1 year old, today we are at the GStreamer 1.11 (and not 1.6 as on that one) as well as we moved in fact to Exteplayer on last one of December.

Remember as well to Flash the ALLSIM 84, then reboot box and flash the new image. This way you upgrade your box from an older SSL to the latest 84 ones.

ALLSIM84 working with all sim is here : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=289#Post289

Thats brilliant, thanks for the fast response. I will do the ALLSIM first (maybe this was the problem today?)
Hopefully the null modem cable is here tomorrow. I have the Japhar flasher ready and waiting smile

Hi, I have the Null Modem cable today smile
But the Japhar flasher is taking a long time and I dont think it is working correctly? It seems to run correctly and detects the box ok and does some progress bar action, then I click Flash, choose the SIM84 / ALLSIM84 .nfi file and it stops and does nothing on "Calculating Checksum", I have left it for 15 minutes and it does nothing. Is this normal behaviour? I have also the SIM84 file as linked in this DM800HD forum, but this is doing the same?

Code:
12:42:56 box type: DM800
12:43:32 Calculating checksum...

Any pointers greatly appreciated smile

Just realised, I can flash it with the browser by entering the IP address, so trying that now....

JapharFlasher works as well as DreamUp on which it's based on.

You need to use the RJ45 + RS232, and if you use a RS232 cable you MUST have both sides a RS232 connector (NEVER USE USB-RS232, it will fail 99% of times).

So connect Rj45 + Rs232 to your box, so router + PC with Real Rs232 port/cable.

Flash the SSL alone, when you move from an older SSL (Lower than 84) and if possible use the SSLALL SIM that we posted on Japhar section (see the section for your box, on subsection OS you will find the ALLSIM SSL).

Yes, WebIf is much easier, but doesn't work always if you have an old Browser or an old SSL in the box... so you need to upgrade to SSL84 version first, then reboot and then flashing image.

Hi, thanks for your help.
I got this working in the end, liking what I am seeing with the download you linked me to. I understand as it is a year out of date now that not everything works as well as it should.

Iv had a play with it and using IPTV Player, this seems good and a lot better than I had before.
I tried to install JAM on there, but this shows a "can not connect to server" error so not been able to play with this.
I also have not found out how to install CCcam yet. I tried the plugins manager, but this says "no new plugins found" (I am connected as I can connect to the box on my netowrk and I can play videos via IPTV player), Green button doesnt do anything either.

If I buy the latest Japhar SIM card for my box, will I be able to download the latest OpenPLI v4 flash it to my box and all these tools will be running out of the box? No more command line and all done through the plugins manager?

Many thnaks smile

All problems you quoted on your post, are solved with the install of the Japhar version of the OpenPLi 4.0 IPTV of December.

So, yes, that's next step to do and IPTV / Streaming software works MUCH MUCH better than on the old version you use that is our old 1 year version based on Japhar image of 2015.

Hi, I got my sim today smile
I have installed it along with the flash image I was sent via email.
I have VIP/Member/Serial number that came on the letter, what can I do with this or is this just my SIM ID number?

Also, when I try and load the JAM panel from the blue button, I keep getting a "no internet connection / can not connect to server" message? do you know why this is happening?
I have installed CCcam from the Plugins menu so I know my internet connection is working ok (I can also see my other devices on the network).
Many thanks smile

Hello Wozie,

The JAM is working fine, concerning the VIP you already are upgraded (status on the forum).

Try again, as the JAM should be accessible, reboot box and try. Just be sure you use the JAM 5.x and not an older version.

Hi, Thanks for the post.
I have rebooted and I still get the same error on screen saying it can not connect to server. I have version 5.3.

This is the version I have just flashed: OpenPLi_4.0_Japhar_DM800HD_wIPTV_v21-feeds.nfi

PM me and I will send my IP address if this helps diagnose your end if I can connect or not? (Firewall blocking my incoming request to server or something?)

Thanks

It works no problem, could be a DNS problem in your side (Generally this could be the reason), so use Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) in your network.
