Could you attach rt5370 driver for dm8000 with kernel 3.2. I tried to compile it myself but i get this error "sta_ioctl.c:2986: error: unknown field 'private' specified in initializer"...

There is not much of these drivers for DM8000, as the DM8000 already have built-in Wifi card,

Ok, I finally got my dlink dw140 working on dm8000 with 2011_0719_RT3070_RT3370_RT5370_RT5372_Linux_STA_V2.5.0.3_DPO driver. I installed last OE firmware and OE toolchain worked. Also I set HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y and HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=n in config.mk. Its necessary to reboot to make usb driver working (rt5370sta.ko must be in /etc/modules) and remove/blacklist rt28* kernel modules. Attached kernel module for dm8000 kernel 3.2

I was able to do this "patch" changing the ID but in fact didn't gain anything from 5370 downgrading to 3070, in fact drivers works but Wifi Dongle didn't work properly (no signal or no AP found).

So it's more "Theorical" than "Practical".

My best tip, use ONLY RT3070 Wifi Dongles for DM, RT5370 is only good for VU+.

Here is on Ebay 2 models :

- Long Range Stick : http://www.ebay.com/itm/121056775949

RT5370 is the worst model (it well supported on VU+ boxes), for DM boxes it's better to use RT3070 version, see ebay links above to have 100% compatible.

For a try just test the ItalySat images for your box, if the image doesn't support your dongle, no other image will support it.

Hope this can help you,

Thanks for your feedback, yes the RT7777 is Ralink.
So same base of drivers of all Ralink Wifi Dongles.
This issue could happen and you will need to force the install.

Please post the VID:PID of your Wifi Dongle,

Linux in Telnet Command to get VID:PID
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

Then only we can know which one you need to use.

P.S.: But the best would be to swap your sim to the new sim Japhar that will support the latest images, so you will have no more problems with Wifi drivers.

Yes, try with these drivers but on OpenPLi image, you have much more chances that it works.

You can also try the image OpenPLi 2.1 with RALINK RT537x built-in, on link below, all is ready and could work directly.

The file above from MEGA works fine with the RT537x, I installed it on my DM500HD... so try it without installing again the drivers as the drivers are already installed for the RT537x.

Just install it, it will work, and if you are happy of the image to have it to work at the best, just then order the new sim Japhar from http://www.japhar.com/japhar/

The image above works fine for BOTH, Japhar and Ferrari... but it's better for future support to have the Japhar installed. So if you are happy and it works well, get the Japhar then.

Re: RT2570, RT2870, RT3070, RT3572, RT73, ZD1211b Wifi - 07/05/15 08:08 PM

If you install OpenPLi from Jole, you will be able to run the RT5370 (without the need to install any driver, as it's already pre-installed), but you will need to remove from the drivers section the RT7777 file, the RT5370 will then work instead of the RT7777. On Jole911 image there is both, RT7777 and RT5370 pre-installed.

Sometimes it works, for OpenPLi 4.0,

Check this,

Code:
opkg update
opkg install firmware-rtl8712u
opkg install kernel-module-r8712u
opkg install enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-wirelesslan
reboot

It should be updatable thru the normal Nemesis Feeds, see their forum naturally not telling you have a clone box ;o) as they really dont like it (risk of ban).

Re: RT2570, RT2870, RT3070, RT3572, RT73, ZD1211b Wifi - 04/04/16 03:07 AM

You have 3 options,

- Set your network to WEP or to Open, and see if it works.

- Move to OpenPli 4.0 IPTV for Japhar, as your dongle is supported fine.

- You can also use Jole911 images, these generally work with RT5370 (in that case remove from the image the RT7777 driver in /lib/modules)... or get an RT7777 from http://www.japhar.com/japhar/ that works on this image for example : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1224#Post1224

You need to upgrade your box to the Japhar Sim, removing the old Ferrari that is no more supported, by the new Japhar Sim you can find for members only here, http://www.japhar.com/japhar/

Hi

I am trying to use D-Link DWA-110, a WLAN USB with Ralink RT73 chip in cvs+gp3 (OE2.0) image, but I've never been successful.

First, I updated all the plugins in "Manage Extensions" section and then I installed the "wlan-rt73_1.0-r6_dm800.ipk" file, by using the file browser. After that I cold booted my Dreambox DM800 HD PVR. I was waiting to see the orange LED on USB WLAN during the boot process, but nothing happened! Image booted up, and when I went to the Network section, there was no sign of any WLAN option!

I'm not an expert in linux based programming so please help me in a way that I can do it by myself.

Thanks.

The most important is that a driver needs to be compiled for the image you are using. So when you choose an image, be sure that the devices you want to connect if they need drivers, are supported and available for the image you install from the feeds.

This is the best tip we can give, as without that you are mostly sure to never be able to install a driver/hardware into your box/image.

Driver should be the RT73, as you can read below.

It's related to your image, only if your image support the driver it will work, and driver needs to come from the feeds of your image... so then change image.

Which image did you installed and on which box is it ? As the drivers are image related and need to be compatible with it.

As wrote, when such thing happens, it means that the image / drivers are not working. So use a working/supported image.

The Japhar images have this built-in and working, so if you flash a Japhar image (and you upgraded to the Japhar Sim), it will work smoothly.

Re: RT2570, RT2870, RT3070, RT3572, RT73, ZD1211b Wifi - 07/31/17 08:35 PM

As I wrote, image is buggy or drivers are not compatible,

So you need to install a fully supported and working image, if you want this to work.

Today as the Sim2 is dead and don't give support, the best way is to upgrade to a Japhar Sim and use a Japhar Image that is supported and has Wifi working/built-in.

You can get the Japhar Sim for your DM800HDseV2 box at http://www.japhar.com/japhar and then you will be able to use the Japhar DM800HDseV2 images below,
