How to Flash the Japhar Sim to OS v6 ?

1) Download the Archive (RAR file) of the Box version. See links below.

2) Extract the files from it and you will have 3 different ways to flash the Sim to the new Japhar OS v6.

BEFORE APPLYING THE SIM OS UPGRADE BE SURE ALL CAM ARE DEACTIVATED !
Set CAM to "Common Interface" mode.

Best TIP : Install brand new image OpenPLi for Sim Upgrade via JAM.

a) Use JAM 5.x, leaving the sim in the box and launching the LIVE upgrade of the sim Japhar in the box.
- Select the first option of JAM : "Japhar addons Manager Come To Our FORUM"
- Select then the box sim upgrade : "Japhar Sim Card Flashing DMxxxxx v6"
- Let the box flash the sim itself, with 2 reboots and at least 5 minutes of work to do the whole job.

Remark : The JAM way to work will need to have a Kernel 3.2 image, like OpenPLi installed in the box (NOT Kernel 2.6).

OR

b) Install the ipk file (same as the one from JAM), that will reflash the box with 2 reboots and 5+ minutes for the job. AGAIN you need a Kernel 3.2 image here for the ipk to be successful (only for DM800HD Kernel 2.6).

OR

c) Get the .bat, .exe and .nc3 files in your PC, and with a GCR2 Programmer to flash the sim directly with your PC. You could need to launch the .bat file twice as on XP once is enough, but Win7+ it will need two as the second will show a lot of numbers and be a successful second pass programming.

3) You will have now your Sim compatible with all images v6, and for DM800HDpvr/DM800HDseV1/DM8000HD will be compatible with v3-v5 images. For DM800HDseV2 images v6 will work BUT NOT v5 that will need flashing the new SSL89-v6.

Can I boot with Ferrari sim, hot replace to Japhar white card ( without OS, not flashed) and use 1 or 2 method?

With way 2a, you don't need to replace the sim (it stays inside the box with no need of removal). Just important is to install first the OpenVision image with Kernel 3.2, and launch the JAM options/upgrade as described. Only for DM800HDpvr Kernel 2.6 is OK for upgrade.

Also, I upgraded my sim in old openPli4 v15 on dm8000

The only way to flash the sim if you remove it from the box is to flash it with GCR/PCSC programmer with the option 2c.

Options 2a and 2b, will reflash the sim in the DM Sim socket on the motherboard (Will need to work a Kernel 3.2 image, only for DM800HD a Kernel 2.6).

Does it mean I can Flash DM800PVR with kernel 2.6.18?

Yes you can flash the sim Japhar (v3 or v5) to OS v6 having a Kernel 2.6 only on DM800HDpvr, BUT remember to turn off the CAM if you have a Cam working, changing to Common Interface or no Cam.

To have V5 images work, you need of course to first flash SSL89-v6
then Flash OS6 with different options
But then you still need to upgrade drivers to make image V5 work or not ?

You will need to flash the SSL89-v6, and if you want you can replace the Japhar drivers by the new Japhar v6 drivers.

Drivers v5 for DM800HDseV2 (only that model) are no more compatible with the Sim v6 Japhar OS. You need to replace them by the Drivers v6.

ok just before starting, the driver bcm7405.ko can be replaced before flashing or there is a risk. I know the v5 image wont work but after flashing canI still access the dreambox via ssh or I better replace before flashing ?

The driver doesn't block anything (You will just not have any image/video), the only important thing to replace is the old SSL v5 by the new SSL89-v6 otherwise you will get a NO CA ERROR (that can be recovered by JapharFlasher). This happens only for DM800HDseV2, all other boxes will boot ok but no image/audio if you have v3-v5 OS and boot image v6.

The only good way to test the sim, to be sure it's OS v6, is to flash the OpenVision v6 image and see if it works (You can also flash a v5 image and if you have NO CA ERROR then you know the sim is OS v6).

Patching is not always possible, depending of the image. If the image is available in v6 version, better is just to flash the v6 new image and then restore the settings on it.

All Sim sent since April 2019, are flashed with the v6 already.

Tried to flash sim to OS v6. Now Bios no Ca found. Tried almost everything suggested bu without result.
DM800seV2. Recover with Japharflasher 1.1 gives flashing successfully, but still No CA found.

That's the only box the DM800HDseV2 that had a big "change" in the software.

With JapharFlasher v1.1, flash a v6 image, and you will get your box working as good and better than before.

If you need to backup your configurations in the box, flash the SSL89J-v6 first (That will get your box compatible with the new Sim OS v6, then backup the files you need and finally Flash a v6 image, and restore files you need/settings/configurations).

Nope, you will need to upgrade to Japhar Sim physically, and then will have the latest driver 5 years newer than the one used on the Ferrari images.

The Ferrari Sim is not reprogrammable and is only compatible with the Kernel 2.6 driver from 2011... the driver for Japhar sim is from 2016. So it's worth to do the jump. The Japhar Sim for DM800HDpvr is also compatible with all old images Ferrari (SSLxxF), as well as the Sim2 2.01 and Sim2 2.10... so with one sim (Japhar) you can use ALL Clone images... and most recent images, our latest OpenPLi 7.3star is from last week.

All the Japhar Sims for DM900UHD are already in v6, so you don't need to reprogram them.

If you have another sim, like the v2.30, then you will have to replace it with the Japhar Sim.

I have try to flash an japhar NC3 (previously used for DM800) for my DM7020HD with 2 different ps/sc card reader without success.
The card isn't show any ATR with these 2 card reader.
I have success full flash this japhar NC3 with my old DM800Se V1 (front slot). It work fine DM800 and DM800SeV1.

So my question: any clue to flash the sim with my ps/sc card reader? Or better option for me: is it possible to add the flash option DM7020 HD (front slot) in Japhar addons manager?
