DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 09/28/21 09:58 AM

I got me another DM800HDse Estar box. Wanted it to change to Japhar, because it is better laugh. But when I wanted it to flash to Japhar software its does not uses DHCP to get an ip address.

It always goes to 196.168.2.11, and as i use 10.0.0.0 range that is not handy.

Needed to adapt an old modem and use laptop to get to the flash page.

I flashed it, changed the sim, and it works like a dream.

But the ip adress for flash stay's the same ?
Is it possible to change that to DHCP ?
I have more boxes and i'd like them all the same.

Try to reset the BIOS, see informations below,

See : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3259#Post3259

Generally the IP address is set by the MAC address, that is contained inside the Sim card.

Try to see if your MAC address ("ifconfig" command in ssh/telnet when you are connected on console mode in the dreambox) is not set in the router to a fixed IP address.

The other thing, could be that by software the IP is fixed (inside the image or perhaps the BIOS ?).

Re: DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 10/04/21 09:25 AM

Ok, to my feeling and experience most probably you have not enough Flash memory if you have such type of errors.

Then next step optimize Flash memory when you flash the box, recoving the Bad sectors on the Flash that could have been marked by error to Bad.

Go this way, flashing an image thru Web or via JapharFlasher, it has the Flash memory recovery function.

See : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3137#Post3137

Concerning the boxes, also be sure you use the correct image with sim compatible, as wrong drivers could get the box crashing as well (or badly patched images also behave the same way).

Concerning backups, you have scripts on this forum, and it's always better to use them (as the public packages are not reliable)... and backup must be done in/from the USB Memory stick or HDD.

Thank you .
Tried to set bios bad sector recovery . i will try japhar flasher .
I think memory is so bad . it has not enough good memory left .
Scripts don't work , commands cannot be found .
Can the memory chip be replaced ? Were is it ? and what type ?

Re: DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 10/06/21 09:42 AM

To check the memory available login with SSH / Telnet and send command "df -h", then copy me the output here, and I will let you know. Generally the Flash is completely bad or is recoverable/usable.

Also, remember the box has only 64 Mb, so you must be very careful, as the image is already 60 Mb, so you don't have much left, so install only what is necessary.

First

root@dm800se:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 60.0M 56.9M 3.1M 95% /
devtmpfs 66.3M 4.0K 66.3M 0% /dev
tmpfs 64.0K 0 64.0K 0% /media
tmpfs 66.4M 184.0K 66.2M 0% /run
tmpfs 66.4M 220.0K 66.2M 0% /var/volatile
/dev/sda1 14.3G 158.8M 14.2G 1% /media/usb

Thank You for Your help , I am busy with satelliet stuf ( hobby ) for 30 years , still need help !

Re: DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 10/06/21 10:07 PM

The important bit is this one,

/dev/root 60.0M 56.9M 3.1M 95%

So you have enough Flash memory on the current install, you can use maximum 2 Mb of the 3.1 Mb (as you always need to leave 1 Mb available for the box to work).

We all learn EVERY DAY ! This is what community is important, as we learn from each other every day, it's a mutual enrichment.

Re: DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 10/07/21 09:19 PM

Thank you !

I forgot something .
I forgot to put the data of the second box in .
So i did the reading of the second box again .
But now it reads :

root@dm800se:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 60.0M 53.7M 6.3M 89% /
devtmpfs 66.3M 4.0K 66.3M 0% /dev
tmpfs 64.0K 0 64.0K 0% /media
tmpfs 66.4M 124.0K 66.2M 0% /var/volatile
/dev/sda1 14.3G 158.8M 14.2G 1% /media/usb
root@dm800se:~#

But yesterday i got all kind of errors like df command not found , and no numbers
on the last 4 rows .
Is it possible that the memory fails sometimes ?
It looks like sometimes it is not able to find data to perform a task like a command .
When i work with it it gives green screens ,and i think to see no memory error in the comments .
It looks like working data like commands is suddenly gone .
Is possible to test the memory ?

Thank You again

It took me one year to find a problem with my motorbike , wich was realy very simple : a faulty sparkplug
Found it when i got it on test bench .

Aha , did the test again
Now i get this

-sh: root@dm800se:~#: command not found
root@dm800se:~# Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted
on
-sh: Filesystem: command not found
root@dm800se:~# /dev/root 60.0M 53.7M 6.3M 89% /

-sh: /dev/root: Permission denied
root@dm800se:~# devtmpfs 66.3M 4.0K 66.3M 0% /dev

-sh: devtmpfs: command not found
root@dm800se:~# tmpfs 64.0K 0 64.0K 0% /media

-sh: tmpfs: command not found
root@dm800se:~# tmpfs 66.4M 124.0K 66.2M 0% /var/vo
atile
-sh: tmpfs: command not found
root@dm800se:~# /dev/sda1 14.3G 158.8M 14.2G 1% /media/

Could this be because the box is warm now ?
Could this be a bad soldering on the memory chip ?

Can you tel me where to find the memory chip ,to try to solder it again ?

Again thank you very much !!

I don't give up easely , i have been working with it for several day's flashing it again and again
with different images , and different simcards , original it had an ferrari , got me the japhar sim
also had a estar .

Re: DM800HDse, IP for flash fixed to 196.168.2.11 - 10/08/21 08:22 AM

No, as you can see you send the data you just copied, when you should send again the "df -h" command... you cannot send the previous output back into the box, as it will naturally fail.

On that box you have 6 Mb, so it's a lot available.

You should explain more when you have such Green screens, and login in the box when it happens and send the "df -h" command to see if the memory is low.

If the memory is still ok (more than 1.5 Mb), then I would consider replacing the PSU (Often these fail and could create such problems). But first reflash the box with the bad sector enabled, to have a clean install of the image into the cleaned flash. And when a green screen happens do the "df -h" command to know the status of the box. Then let us know.
