DM800HDseV2 : Original box, chip no sim, replace? - 12/15/19 12:28 PM

Hello
My first post here , messing with sat tuners for 30 years .
I have several tuners , i bought an original Dreambox DM800SE v2 .
Found out that the images i can use are limited , opened the box and found no simcard , but a chip soldered on the place .
Is it possible to change this chip for a card ?
I searched info on the possibilities but could not find anything .
Regards

Hello,

Yes, you are perfectly right, you can unsolder the old security chip on the DM800HDseV2 and replace it with a Sim socket and a Japhar Sim (you could even put the old security chip on a pcb with the simcard contacts, to still use it after swapping it with the Japhar Sim).

This is the reason why on the Japhar eshop we sell the sim socket, as members could need as well when they replace the sim, replace the simcard socket.

See here :

- Socket : https://jam3.japhar.com/japhar/index.php/product/sim-socket/

- Japhar sim for DM800HDse V2 : https://jam3.japhar.com/japhar/index.php/product/dm800hdse-v2-nc3-japhar/

Then your box will work with all the Clone Japhar DM800HDse V2 images, as well as you can use the latest patched driver for DM800HDse V2, giving you in fact the full 100% compatibility with the Original software and latest drivers.

Admin

P.S.: Before doing the chip switch to the Japhar Sim, we could ask you to launch a python script in your box, and send us the output log for our information. Then we will help you to do the upgrade to the Japhar sim software and give you all the tips to use at the best all the software and latest drivers we published for your original box upgraded to Japhar Sim.

Thank You , that is fast !!
Is there a tutorial how to do it ?
How exactly to place the socket , what contacts to use ( 8 on the board 6 on the socket).
I can use a clone to see the position , got 5 800's ( and about
25 others for 30 years of hobby ) but better be shure .
There are 2 different sockets .

Hello !

1) You will have to email me and I will give you the python script to use, then email me back the output. (This is not mandatory but it's information that helps the team to improve the software we release).

2) Order the sim (and socket if you have none, but probably you already have it). The ISO7816 is 6 contacts, and not 8 contacts, so in fact only 6 are used by the Sim cards, and a sim socket support is enough if it has 6 contacts.

3) Unsolder the chip, generally you put some solding on all the 8 pins (4x4) and get the chip hotter to remove it softly, to then keep in a good place to not loose it.

4) Solder the socket as in the photos of the link, same position as in a DM800HDse V1. http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=15#Post15 As on the link you can see the position of the socket, and it's strickly the same as on the DM800HDse V1 anyway.

5) This done, you will have to do as explained in the Tutorial for the upgrade of the Sim/software in your DM800HDseV2, then you will be capable of using all images on DM800HDse V2 Japhar section below.

Tutorial : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=11286#Post11286

DM800HDse V2 Japhar Images : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=49&page=1

6) You can then also use the drivers released here in your box, with any original image as well as the SSL89J released by Japhar Team.

Sure, don't worry. And the good of the latest drivers you will be able to use, due to our latest driver release, is that it's compatible with all the tuners below as well,

Tuners compatible
a) Alps BSBE2 (Single Tuner, DVB-S2, BSBE2-801A)
b) Broadcom BCM4505 (Single Tuner, DVB-S2)
c) Philips TU1216 (Single Tuner, DVB-T)
d) Philips CU1216Mk3 (Single Tuner, DVB-C)
e) Si2166B (Dual Tuner, DVB-S2)
f) CXD1981 (TypeMultiple, DVB-C/T)
g) Hybrid Dual Tuner (Dual Tuner, DVB-C/T2)

The good also of the Japhar Sim, is that you can change the OS inside with no limit and use it with any box you want, so swap it into a DM800HDseV1, DM500HD, DM800HDpvr, DM8000HD, etc etc as well as DM900UHD. Just reflashing the correct OS and your sim can migrate from one box to another.

Got to work on it . Did not have the return mail yet . Removed the chip . But forgot to flash another image .
Could have known the image on it would not work with the new sim blush
O well I will see later . Soldered the bracket , put the sim in .
And as expected , no ca error . Ok try Dreamup . tried several versions no result . Ok shall i put the chip back (with wires) ??
O wait there is also JapharFlasher ! It worked ! laugh
Flashed openpli-enigma2-7.2star-dm800sev2_Japhar_v6_GStreamer_1.17.0.1_20191220 .
Now i have the Dreambox i want laugh
And what Dream should have made in the first place !
Thank you Japhar .
