Problem with sim?? - 03/22/16 07:03 PM

Hello all,

I am Leen from the Netherlands.
I own a ferraribox and have purchased the nc3 card. Received it this morning and try to install it.

I thought everything went well but no.
My first question would be about the simcard.
My old simcard is a big card and the new one is a small sim.
Can I just use that as is? Because the holder seems to have 8 contacts and the new one only 6.

That is what I want to check first.

kind regards

Hello !

You have this topic about your issue, the sim works fine and new technology are much smaller with 6 contacts than 10 years old technologies with 8 contacts (only 6 were used, 2 = N/C).

The difference of the gold contact in the sims in fact has no importance, you can check your mobile sim card, that is exactly the same thing as the Japhar Sim. Today's the sims have only the 6 contacts used, in past (10 years ago) the extra 2 contacts (so 8) were just there to protect the chip/silicium that was too big and needed more external protection/shield, so bigger gold contact was used. The ISO smartcard standard states 6 contacts to be used, and not more. This is just the difference between old technology and new technology sims.

Concerning your problem if you check here, it's advised that the Feeds taking too much space, it's today necessary to optimize the space after installation of the image.

There is few tricks to get space, and there is a topic about it with a script or even to use it in the JAM 5.2 on OpenPLi 4.0 IPTV section, to run that will free more than 3.5 Mb.

It's normal that there is a problem of space, the space available is 3.3 Mb after installation, if by mistake you activated the Internet check and automatic update of the packages / feeds, that function eats around 2.8 Mb of space, so you have left only 0.5 Mb that is not enough to run the box... and a CCcam will require 1 Mb...

So as you can understand the sim works perfect, but you need to read the topic about the OpenPLi 4.0 in particular that uses a lot of Flash, compared with older images that will not have such problem... but to support latest software the box needs to use as much as possible Flash space to have all software needed.

See link above for more informations on how to optimize your Flash memory.

Yes, you can move all a big folder, there is a topic talking about how to move data from the Flash to an external device (hdd, usb etc) to gain space in Flash as well.

The optimization proposed on the topic I gave you also is good, as in fact it removes things not used. So you can gain space on both directions.

Thank you so much.
I will have a look at it.
For now I have to start over because the box was in a loop starting up -> green screen and starting up again.

I will let you know how it all ends.

Re: Problem with sim?? - 03/22/16 10:02 PM

I'm kind of stuck now because putting back the ferrari sim and putting back old software with ferrarifiller doesn't work anymore.
It keeps hanging in checking checksum.
Pressing button in front and switching power doesn't put the box in flash mode either.

Any advice???

Re: Problem with sim?? - 03/22/16 10:02 PM

Yes, you got Green screen because there is no more Flash memory, and box crashes as it needs at least 1 Mb free Flash space to work,

Yes I understand the problem.
But I can't get into the box with telnet or ftp, and I cant re-flash it now.
So I don't know how to free up memory

Use JapharFlasher then, keep box off, connect cables (Rj45+USB) and connect JapharFlasher. Turn on box, it should load the SSL and give you the possibility to control the box again. Then Flash the image clean as we published, and be careful during setup, don't accept the internet access / automatic package update when requested.

Can I do this using the new nc3 card or the old ferrari and then make the switch?
Want to be careful now

Re: Problem with sim?? - 03/22/16 10:45 PM

The Japhar NC3 is Dual Sim, so it runs all Japhar and Ferrari SSL/Images. The Ferrari runs only Ferrari images.

This means that the Japhar is much better than Ferrari in such situation.

The JapharFlasher works with all sims, Original, Japhar, Ferrari, Sim2, A8P, etc... so there is no risk using JapharFlasher. Just be sure you flash the right image for the sim inside the box (If you flash our OpenPLi 4.0, then you need the Japhar NC3 in the box).

Re: Problem with sim?? - 03/23/16 01:23 AM

Btw, the japhar flasher did the trick.
I couldn't get the script to run properly, but I'm not a scripter. I deleted all the items manually.

Ok, you could have used the JAM 5.2, on the OpenPLi 4.0 IPTV section we updated with the script that does the job as well. Well done, and enjoy !
