Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/04/15 08:57 PM

Hello Johnny,

Do you have any ideas about this ? Hoffy has this issue with his 2 extra tuners (the Sat seems to be recognized ok).

Thank you !

Re: Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/04/15 09:42 PM

smile Toysoft beat me to it.

I was just about to post that info myself.
I would really like to get this sorted out. I miss my Dreambox.
Let me know if I can provide any other info.

I have tried to stip all extras from the box (HDD, DVD-Rom, Fan) to reduce the load on the PSU. Have tried 1 tuner at a time in each slot. Always the same result.

Cheers.
Hoffy.

Hoffy,

Try Toysoft's image, SSL83F/SSL82F DE-OpenBlackHole 1.4 and let us know if you have your DVB-T tuners.

It could be a Driver related issue... but we want to find out too !

Re: Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/05/15 08:47 AM

Yet another problem. frown

When I start the box to flash image via network, the front display shows as it should (e.g. ##STOP## is displayed and ip address shows) but I cannot access via my browser to flash the new image. I have a serial cable so will try TS's image that way.

Any clues as to what would cause this new issue?

Cheers.

Re: Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/05/15 09:26 AM

This is probably a bad flashing, if you get this generally it's because the image is corrupted.

Try to flash the image with DreamUp or WebIf (Telnet) but with the Bad Sectory Recovery enabled.

If it's a backup you done yourself, then change Backup tool as it looks like creating corrupted images.

To Flash use Chrome or Explorer, not Firefox that is not compatible (most of the version). Be sure you press the Frontpanel UP Arrow to activate the upload/WebIf.

You might be onto something there. I have been using Firefox to flash and it seemed to work correctly, but maybe corrupting some items.

Where can I find the appropriate file (dmesg in OpenPLi) in you DE-BH 1.4 image TS?
Can't seem to find the DVB-T entry details.

Re: Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/05/15 12:40 PM

This one is for Johhny B.

I've been measuring voltages from the PSU whilst doing some of this.

With the PSU connected to the motherboard and all running, I measured all the voltages on the main connector. Pin 4 is reading 3.337V when running and connected to the motherboard. This is the 3.3V input required to switch Pin 3 to the 6V+ ? I should be getting 6V+ like this?

Is this correct or does it work differently when connected to the Motherboard?

Pin 3 must normally have around the 6v, and it's used for the tuners.
If this collapse lower than 5v, the tuners will not work.
Why can it collapse?, this psu circuit has a overload protection, if it must deliver a higher consumption than normal it will collapse.

Reason can be, bad tuner, bad dc to dc chip, bad cap etc..
Other reason can be, psu issue, mostly cap problem.
In any case, it's hard to say what it can be without some good measurements.
However it's hard to say if it's really a hardware failure, but I had a case that the box failed on two extra tuners, but works fine with one.
The psu voltage were fine, but with another psu the problem solved.
Never found why.

Issue,
DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (bcm4
(Philips TU1216-DVB-T) tda10046: chip is not answering.

Versus TS,
(Philips TU1216-DVB-T) Philips TDA10046H DVB-T

Although both have the same chip set, yours could be different.
Maybe it has to do with,
TDA10046
TDA10046H

Maybe to see on the present parts on the top side.
I any case your tuners doesn't give a response to the request.
Which I think, but not sure, can happen if it are newer tuners. for, 800hd/800se

Don't know if this helps but I've attached an image of the tuner. I'm betting you need to see the inside.

I still don't think I'm getting the required voltage to the tuners. Is it possible that U1 is faulty, thus not providing the correct voltage?

Is you Terrestrial genuine Philips? It seems to have extra components on the exposed part of the PCB. Up the top in that picture.

Don't know if it makes any difference. Mine worked fine for years.

Re: Extra Tuners, DVB-T and DVB-C, any ideas ? - 07/07/15 07:21 AM

Yeah well, maybe it's nothing but I had the impression that the one with fuse working fine for the 800hd/8000hd

The one without works with the 800se.
At least, that's my findings with the two.

But if it has worked before, both.. than it it seems to me a driver issue.

Or else, when they work, measure the Pin 3.
Also when they failed.
Maybe it has to do with it.
