I mostly replace the sim to nc3, and use a wxp system and japhar flasher.
Box connected with network, and the serial cable, so both connected.

First I upload the image file, after that the boot loader, without reset.
This method is mostly successful.

Dear Balocco,

The Japhar NC3 sim doesn't change anything on the way to Flash the box. It's like any other sim.

There is some issues that some members found, such as when your box has an old SSL, you need to go thru the old FireFox 3.6.x as newer Browsers will not work.

Also if you have an older SSL than SSL84, to load an SSL84 image, you will need first to load the SSL84J.NFI then reboot and load the image.

As Johnny explained, his way is "strong" and working very well, so you can go the way he explained.

The WebInterface as well as the JapharFlasher (Japhar's DreamUP) are both possible and usable. It's always important to ask yourself first the questions such as "Which SSL my box has ?", and "Which box does I have ?", "Which sim is the old one ?". With the answers you can generally find the way to upgrade it, as explained on the various documents published on how to upgrade the box with the new Sim.

SSL88F is same a SSL84x bootloader, so you can directly flash a Japhar image (SSL84J), then turn off the box and replace the sim. Then turn on box and boot.

Old Firefox is only necessary if the SSL is old one such as SSL7x ones. Your SSL88F is same as SSL84x.

OK, in case somebody is stuck the same way I was: I couldn't put my F500HD into the flashing mode. so I couldn't use the browser to flash it. It had to be done by Japhar Flasher and ToySoft helped me get it done - this is how... smile

Thanx to ToySoft for directing me to the right place...

...and to the necessary reboot of my PC, after the drivers did not install the first few times around, plus a bit of exercising of my little grey cells... laugh After a bit of wrangling - I succeeded... This really does work, unlike the previous versions I tried long, long ago, when I was stuck in a similar fashion...

So, I recovered my F500HD, thanx also to somebody saying to untick the "LAN/Network" box in the Flasher GUI, i.e. to have the cable plugged in (possibly to detect the box) but not to use the network to flash it, I suppose... wink

The flashing is done by a mini USB cable, I presume and it is slow - but it worked!!! BRAVO, whomever wrote that! I is 'appy clappy chappy now, having my special box back! smile

One must install the drivers first, then the flasher starts, and if it can't connect - restart your PC, unplug everything USB-wise, try again. It worked in my case.

The trick was to retry: direct the reinstallation of drivers by choosing the C partition, then it found the drivers and then it all worked as described above!

I managed to flash my F500HD with PurE2 from this cool forum, then I deleted a few things (Blindscan, Cable etc.) and mounted my USB stick.

I restarted and I INSTALLED THE OPEN MULTI BOOT (OMB) PLUGIN from the feeds. I.e. IT IS POSSIBLE to have OMB installed!!! laugh
