I plan to buy a DM7020 HD v2 and install OpenPLi 4.0 IPTV image in it. Will it be possible to play back (from external HDD enclosure) the recordings that were done in DM8000 in Nemesis image?

Yes, it will work, as it was in past, these are compatible,
