OE1.6 image in 7020 HD v2?

It´s impossible to install plugin Drtic in DM7020 HD v2 in OE.2.0 images (it´s .ipk file, needed to activate subtitles). No problem installing it in OE1.6 images though. Would DM7020 HD v2 accept an OE1.6 image, or can only images OE2.0 or newer be installed in this box?
