I'm hoping the good people on here may be able to help me.

I have a DM 800 HD SE (Clone) receiver with an A8P security SIM which was originally supplied with a satellite tuner and which I have used for over Three years without any problems at all.

I have recently purchased a (Clone) cable tuner for this receiver and have today attempted to get this cable tuner set up.

I have installed the cable tuner in the DM800 HD SE.

The image that I am using is OpenPLi 4.0 MastaG GStreamer 1.6.2 with IPTV.

The tuner shows up in the tuner configuration menu and I have entered my UK (Virgin Media) network ID and have then tried to scan for channels but after going through all of the frequencies and whilst displaying "Trying to find used transponder" on screen, the receiver displays the message "ERROR-failed to scan (error starting scan)".

After several attempts and changing the tuners configuration settings I have re-scanned only to be met with the same message once all of the frequencies have scanned.

I have connected an old cable box that I had from years ago (ITGATE TGM 220) to the line to test if this would be able to find any channels and it can find all of the UK FTA and subscription channels so I am certain that there are live services being broadcast on this cable.

I do not have Virgin Media TV service, only Virgin Media broadband, which I believe is the only service I need to receive FTA channels.

(ITGATE TGM 220 can see and list all channels)

If any of the members of the forum would be able to help me or give me some guidance / advice it would be very much appreciated.

Which cable tuner did you installed ? As there is few models.

Tuner A: Philips CU1216Mk3 (DVB-C) Enabled.

I don't think there is any cable.xml file, generally it's needed,

In there I can find only /etc/tuxbox the satellite and terrestrial files, but not cable, perhaps this is the reason ? Check if it's the same in your image as it's an old one of more than 1 year ago.

Hi yeah it ain't easy to tune for channels ! I'm in ch66 area so can send config files needed for that area. If not make sure you get the long list in config do frequency steps leave at 100 until everything except quam 256 and at bottom put snr 6952.

Also find where it says network id and put the number In there for your area save config in tuner setup I can help you with teamviwer and show you it may be easier get in touch if needed.

I have had a look in etc / tuxbox and as you have said, there is no cables XML files only satellites XML and terrestrial XML.

Please would you be able to provide me with the correct cables XML file that would allow me to scan for channels using this tuner.

I have placed the cables XML file that you have kindly provided in etc / tuxbox and restarted the receiver and now have the provider / Virgin Media option to scan.

I have scanned the tuner and it has found 536 channels, however when selected, the vast majority of them just show the current program details at the foot of the screen but no picture, just a blank screen.

Others show nothing at all and then after a few seconds "SID not found in PAT" is displayed on screen.

I can view some channels but none of them are HD.
i haven't been through all of the channels listed but as I've said, the vast majority of them when selected, are just blank.

Do you have any suggestions as to why this might be ?

I would bet these are just encrypted and need a subscription (something we don't deal with here),

So if you have the FTA channels this means it's ok, and the "Sid not found in PAT" is possible as some channels could be still listed but not exist anymore or not transmit when you tested them.

Well that's just it Toysoft, I don't appear to have all the FTA channels they are all listed but I can't view the vast majority of them.

I haven't as yet found a FTA HD channel that is viewable although they are all listed.

I can view BBC1 North West (My area) and One or Two others that I have randomly selected, but I would say 95 per cent of the channels that I have tried to view have been FTA but just show program details at bottom of screen and nothing else or the "SID not found in PAT" message.

(I haven't tried the subscription channels as I realise that I won't be able to view them)
