Apple //e (1983), Apple IIe Platinum

This computer was manufactured for an incredible 10 year run (1983-1993) with several variations released during that time. It offered some considerable improvements over earlier models including support for double hi resolution graphics. Thanks in part to an early licensing deal Steve Jobs made with MECC in the 70s, the Apple II soon dominated the educational market and by the late 80s the Apple //e became the most ubiquitous classroom computer in North America. For this reason many folks today who grew up in the 80s automatically associate an Apple IIe with edutainment software like The Oregon Trail.
