GStreamer 1.8 Brings Initial Vulkan API SupportWritten by Michael Larabel in Multimedia on 24 March 2016Timed for this week's GNOME 3.20 release, GStreamer 1.8 was officially released this morning. GStreamer 1.8 features initial Vulkan API support, hardware-accelerated zero-copy video decoding on Android, a new video capture source for Android, a new tracing system, a new high-level GstPlayer playback API, improved Opus audio support, the GStreamer VA-API module was promoted, and asset proxy support for the GStreamer Editing Services.
