Hi all,
This is my problem.
When you turn on the power, ethernet lights are fixed, but three / four seconds off. Dreambox 800 starts fine, but internet does not work (attached photo)
http://subefotos.com/ver/?ac2270f1d2ae57ec4b705e4bf3c7a55ao.jpg

I measured the volt as explanation and these are the results (attached photo)

http://subefotos.com/ver/?1f42b3f65df60fcdb9d73ba92b52d7deo.jpg

I'm measuring correctly?

What else can I check?

Thanks

Yes it seems that you measure it correctly.

But if you have,
Network, same symptom, with or without network cable both network leds on, then off.
But the L5 inductor and caps are fine..
*When you check the serial port with a terminal program as Hyperterminal or Putty, and you receive garbage.
Replace the Crystal Y1 54.000.

Or, if you have,

*When you check the serial port with a terminal progam as Hyperterminal or Putty, and you receive nothing.
Replace the u17 rs232 ic and probably also the crystal Y1 54.000.

This looks strange to me,

Code:
SW != 9000
error in receive
error during t1 transfer
SW != 9000
error in receive
error during t1 transfer
SW != 9000
error in receive
error during t1 transfer

Like if the sim was not communicating properly or was defective. Can you try with another sim ?

If you press the frontpanel button to load an image, connected with the RJ45... how does the box react and shows on Frontpanel LCD ?

Just as example of a working Sim, you need to all all details as on attachments, and not a MAC that is FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF.

Code:
WARNING: read invalid MAC address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff from flash @ 0xbffff824

Thank you,

Admin

Based on that you get a normal terminal output, and no boot issues.
Then there is no reason to replace the crystal.

Maybe you need to reset your bios to fabric standard.
But, there are also other reasons why the network fails, even the connector could be the reason.

Se for all the information I have here..

Thanks for your help,
Clicking on the display only appears ** *** STOP ...

Entering the bios with putty, this is what appears
http://subefotos.com/ver/?0300bfe7a7c46fbf3eaa87f2ca3335a1o.jpg

Which option is to do a reset?

Johnny B where start checking the possible failure?

Your Kernel command line is a bit strange, it should be someting as,
console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock3 rootfstype=jffs2 rw

Reset question, see tab Exit, and Factory default.

The Kernel command line should change to,
console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock3 rootfstype=jffs2 rw
After you have reset the bios to the Factory default.

If not, copy & paste this command line, and save and exit.
Check it after a reboot, if it's still this normal command line.
console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock3 rootfstype=jffs2 rw

Because yours is wrong, and could be your network issue.

Hi Johnny
I changed the command, option CHANGE COMMAND LINE, disable It must be enabled or disable?
I leave it enabled if you stay in the middle and not just booting process and putty is very slow. This is the text

I do not delete the kernel modification appears that you have told me (console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock3 rootfstype=jffs2 rw

Also if I try to do a reset to factory and setting and not what makes me, me my settings (channels, language ...) still appears

network still does not work

Yeah I have given you the wrong command line.
This one was to see what happens while booting the whole image file.

But the one that should work for the network is these,
console=ttyS0,115200 ip=dhcp root=/dev/nfs rw

See image for a fully overview.

And about the fault..
SW != 9000
error in receive
error during t1 transfer

Use dreamup, with recovery bad sectors and use the serial port.
Sometimes it's better to do it several times until all bad sectors are marked on the nand flash chip.
Use a image file for the process.

However this error may also come from the tuner, try it without.

Flashing failed could happen when you use a browser to upload the file, or a older dream-up.
Best is to try it with japhar flasher, or try my Software-dm800hd-sim2-openpli4-ssl84d package which contains the bootloader sim201_ssl84D.nfi and (old) image file openpli-4.0-beta-dm800-20140316-sim2-ssl84d.nfi and DreamUP v1.3.3.4.

It can often also be fixed with optiflasher.
But I assume you use the dm sim2.01 sim card, because the software I give is only suitable for this type sim card.

Network error Sending DHCP requests ...... timed out!
This could mean that your network isn't working, it could be a hardware problem with the dreambox.
However, be sure that you connect your network cable to a dhcp network.
Also be sure that your network cable has no issues.

Hello Johnny
On cable dhcp, all that is fine. Checked with other dream800 and I assigned ip.

I tried with his image and after an hour, he has become the message ((!!! 010 INVALID IMAGE (OR OLD VERSION)), box will be unusable now!!)

The image takes is Blackhole dreamelite 1.33d v3 sim2.01

n the menu of that image I have to do a reset, but as usual

with putty, with these options I get this

option Change Command Line [ENABLED ] ▒Kernel Command Line [console=ttyS0,115200 ip=dhcp root=/dev/nfs rw ]

and reboot, putty tells me the following

I'm beginning to think at a cpu issue, but if you measure the Rx/Tx +/- print lines at voltage and ohm, you should measure a issue with it.

Maybe you see some voltage drop, or strange ohm value.

In any case, see this information,
http://jb8a8f8.com/support/index.php?attachments/dm800hd-networkv3-jpg.58/

And do some measurements on the network circuit.
But remember, the ohm values are measured between the ground and the measuring point.

However, to do a real ohms measurement for checking the cpu connections Rx/Tx +/-.
You need to remove the network connector from the motherboard.
And also the four resistors R132 to R134.
If you do that, than the ohm value from the Rx/Tx +/- should be in the same Ohms range.

But, it does not have to be a cpu issue, the network connector has internal coils and some other parts.
Suppose that one coil connection has been broken, than you get also this symptoms.

In that case you must replace this network connector for a new one.

Other thing that it could be is one of the ceramic caps C121/C122
But if one of them is shorted, you should notice it by measurements.

Hi Johny,
nice to contact you again.
I checked all the circuits and apparently are OK.
U10, 1Y1 and 1Y2, are giving 0.169V and 0.175V and after 15 seconds they give 3.5V.Then leds go OFF.
What do you think?
Software problems or I need to change U10?
Kind Regards and good weekend.
Rufino

Hi Rufino,

Assuming that the box further works well.

Network problems by software, is possible.
Best is to always try another image file before thinking of a hardware failure.

The U10 LVC244A, it's possible because the led part data goes trough this chip.
When this failed, it could influence the working of the network port.

Further, it's also possible that it is a crystal issue, more about this see/read here.

Hi Johny,
double checking all the resistors and capacitors around U6, I found C98, that instead of getting 0,7v IN, it gets 2,1V, perhaps you could help to trace the origine of problems with this information.Good weekend.

One side of the c98 is going to the C100 and the U6 Vc2 pin 10.
THe other side is going to a resistor R114, this resistor goes to ground.

I have here a basic schematic of the U6, here is the C98 the C7 and the C100 the C8.
Maybe there is some issue with one of the caps, bad soldered or something.
