Ok, if it's not automatically recognized we would need the VID:PID of the Wifi module/dongle to find out which chipset it is and if it needs to be installed via the feeds. Most commons are auto-installed at boot. Concerning your second question, it's probably due to the format of the file, you need to take a look at it and be sure it's properly formatted.
