It's internal software, and compiler. 6+ was first (after OpenPLi 4, and 5 naturally), then you got the 6++ improved and finally the 6* that is compiled with GCC 7.2 instead of the others with GCC 6.3 or 4.9. Higher is the version of the compiler, better is the compilation (optimization of the code).

When you use the frontpanel button, you need to have the box NOT in NO CA ERROR, it needs to boot the image, otherwise it will never accept the frontpanel button. If you loaded an image with Japharflasher and have japhar sim inside, running a Japhar image, you can try to press the frontpanel button as explained and you will see the STOP message and then the IP showing. The IP on your Browser will allow you to flash a new image (for your sim in the box, so Japhar).
