Hello ! Yes, you are perfectly right, you must first flash a Japhar SSL or Japhar image with the old sim in the box, before replacing the sim to Japhar from the old one. On older boxes with SSL inferior of 84, it's mandatory to flash the SSL84 ALLSIM (or Japhar SSL84J), and then flash the image. One DM800HDseV2, you have SSL88J (only v5), SSL89J (v5) and SSL89J_v6 (v6), you need to use the v6 naturally. The "risk" on v2 boxes is the beta v5 release that wasn't compatible to v6.
